Why a Pattern License instead of Individual Patterns?

Individual patterns are great, but are fairly limited in that you have to make sure you always have enough on hand in your shop and you lose money if a pattern is damaged or you run out right before a class. With a pattern license you may print as many copies of the pattern as you like, or you can simply sell the PDF online as a download. This makes the patterns more economical to use as part of kits and classes, and you don’t have to worry about patterns getting damaged in your brick and mortar store or at fairs since you can just print more!

I am a Yarnie or Really Small Store, Are These Patterns a Good Fit?

Big stores have the advantage of being able to buy lots of patterns and big yarn companies can pay designers to have patterns designed. With a pattern license you get the best of both worlds- unlimited use of the pattern that you can use for kits or sell at fairs and you don’t have to reorder patterns. Providing a pattern with your yarn is a good way for people to be able to visualize what the yarn can become.

Can I Resell the Patterns to Other Wholesalers or Share the License?

No, each business needs its own pattern license. The patterns you are buying can only be sold for personal use- people cannot resell or make items from them to sell. If you want to sell the patterns to other wholesalers or artists, we offer an affiliate program.

Can I buy just ___ copies of the pattern?

No. I only offer pattern licenses, which saves us both time.

How are the Patterns Branded? Can I Put in My Own Logo?

Most patterns are branded with the Midnightsky Fibers brand name and yarn, since that is what the patterns are made using. You may not alter the PDF without permission.

Can’t I Just Make Items From The Pattern and Sell Them?

No, the patterns are for person use only unless you have a pattern license.

1. What if I have pattern questions? Please use the contact information on the pattern, or for patterns from Midnightsky Fibers email questions to: Info@MidnightskyFibers.com

2. What if I want to use the pattern for…? Email me for licensing questions that are not covered by the options or if you have questions about if you can use a pattern for another purpose. You may not share or distribute the pattern without permission. 

3. Why not just sell copies of the individual patterns to wholesalers? This saves time, money, and reordering. If you buy the wholesale license you never run short of copies for a class and never need to reorder patterns. You can sell them digitally or in print, they just must be sold as individual copies, you can not sell them as wholesale or to people who want to sell items (become an affiliate if you want to sell wholesale licenses). There is however one restriction to the wholesale patterns: I ask that you not advertise the patterns for sale at more than 20%off  the pattern individual price and that you do not post the pattern for free.

4. Why are the patterns in a different shopping cart? To be able to use affiliates (people who get payment for promoting the patterns), which is not offered for the tangible goods or for individual pattern sales, as the focus is on providing patterns for artists, teachers, and other shops to be able to use.
