Planning on dyeing larger amounts of yarn, fiber, or fabric? Great for smaller dyers and people experimenting with natural dyes. I use and carry only high quality natural dye extracts from small companies that I use myself. I only use and carry non toxic mordants since they are the safest for home use and for the environment.

How much will it dye? You need between 1 (cochineal)5% (most other dyes) of most dyes to get a medium shade. You need so little cochineal since it is a strong dye! This is measure off of the weight of the yarn, fiber, or fabric you are dyeing- so you need 5 grams of madder to dye 100 grams of wool.
How much mordant? What type? Alum (Aluminum Sulfate) is for protein fibers such as wool and silk- use 12%/weight of goods. Use Alum Acetate for cellulose fibers like cotton- use 5%/weight of goods.
Changing colors: Iron and Cream of Tartar can change the colors of dyes. Iron can be used when mordanting, in the dye bath, or as a bath in which the materials are dipper after dyeing. Iron can shift and darken colors. Cream of Tartar is used in the mordanting to change and brighten colors, i.e. making cochineal a bright red.
Wholesale: Minimum order is 5 packs for the 25 gram dye packs.
Individual dye and mordant packs are in Dye Kits- Individual and complete dye and mordant kits are in Dye Kit Sets.
